In the spirit of giving back so integral to the company, Saturday, October 5th, 2013 marked an important occasion for Universal Nutrition. For the second time in three years, Team Universal participated in the Plane Pull at Newark Liberty International Airport, a charity event benefiting the Special Olympics of New Jersey.
Just as before, their squad consisted of company employees, sponsored athletes, and even consumers and fans—a level of engagement critical to the Universal experience. Together, Team Universal managed to pull a Boeing 737 weighing in excess of 93,000 lbs twelve feet in just 6.51 seconds.
That score was worthy of a second place trophy (in a field of thirty-eight teams) and was only a mere tenth of a second out of first place. More importantly, Universal took home a second place trophy for fundraising.
The Plane Pull is first and foremost a charity event, the goal of which is to generate funds for some of the most inspiring athletes on the planet—the Special Olympians who overcome daunting obstacles every day to achieve their competitive goals.
