Paul Sklar: Diet and Supplement Regimen

It might surprise readers to hear that Paul doesn’t sweat the small stuff when it comes to nutrition. “I don’t count calories, macros, or micros, and I don’t use any diet plans,” he affirms. Instead, he focuses on eating mostly whole, nutrient-dense foods and listening to his body.

So, what does a typical day of eating and supplementation look like for Mr. Sklar?

Before his first “true” meal, Paul starts the day with a cup of coffee mixed with 1 scoop of Transparent Labs Grass-Fed Collagen powder (chocolate flavor). He notes, “I love the way it tastes and it seems to help my skin and hair.”

An hour or so later, Paul preps a more proper “breakfast” shake made with:

Paul mentions, “I’m usually more restricted with time in the morning, so I prefer to start the day with a nutrient-dense protein shake that I can drink on-the-go, digests easily, and keeps me satisfied until my first solid meal.”

A few hours later (mid-morning), Paul has a second shake about an hour before his workout with 1 ½ scoops Transparent Labs Whey Protein Isolate in 20 oz of water.

After he hits the gym, Paul kickstarts the recovery process by drinking a post-workout shake with 1 scoop of Transparent Labs Grass-Fed Whey Protein Isolate and 1 scoop of TL creatine HMB in 24 oz water. He continues, “About an hour later I go home for what I call my first solid meal, which is usually three whole eggs and a slice of turkey with spinach and cheese. Sometimes I eat it on a bagel, other times just plain. I often add avocado slices as well.”

Paul will typically eat a mid-afternoon snack of turkey and cheese on a soft taco shell or wrap to tide him over until dinner. Once dinner rolls around, Paul says he “usually eats some type of grilled or rotisserie chicken with a vegetable and a small amount of veggie pasta. I eat red meat maybe once a month or so.”

He adds, “If I’m still hungry after dinner, I may have a granola bar with peanut butter on top or a bowl of oatmeal.”

We also asked Paul what his alcohol intake is like, “On occasion, I may have one or two alcoholic beverages when I feel the urge, which may amount to once or twice a week, but I don’t drink very much.”

Function Meets Form

Paul Sklar’s early life was a breeding ground for his athletic prowess; he was a multi-sport athlete throughout his teens, excelling in football and track. He eventually earned a scholarship to play Division 1 football at the collegiate level. While many would rest on these laurels, Paul knew that his athletic journey was far from over.

He transitioned into a career in personal training after earning his BS in Exercise and Sports Science from Wake Forest University. He is also certified by the National Strength and Conditioning Association as a Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) and by the American College of Sports Medicine as a Certified Exercise Physiologist (EP-C).

Paul’s methodology relies heavily on functional movement patterns and incorporates a blend of strength, cardio, and mobility training to create a balanced, practical approach to fitness. It’s not about “bro science” or anecdotal evidence; it’s about real, quantifiable results grounded in robust research.

Now, let’s talk metrics, because numbers often speak louder than words when it comes to fitness. Paul’s fitness programming has a proven track record, helping clients reach milestones they never thought possible. From achieving a first pull-up to breaking plateaus in deadlifts, the empirical success of his programs is irrefutable. This effectiveness isn’t by accident; it’s a direct result of Paul’s meticulous attention to biomechanics and exercise physiology. He crafts programs that are not just challenging but also biomechanically sound, minimizing the risk of injury while maximizing performance gains.
