Sylvester Stallone won Best Supporting Actor in a Motion Picture at the 73rd Golden Globe Awards last weekend. He pulled in the hardware for his strong performance in the film Creed. As he took to the stage, he thanked his famed character and imaginary friend, Rocky Balboa, who he credits for being his “best friend” and an inspiration to his most recent movie.
“I’m gonna try and not get emotional because I am the sum total of everyone I’ve ever met,” Stallone said in his acceptance speech. “I want to thank my imaginary friend Rocky Balboa for being the best friend I’ve ever had.”

This wasn’t the first time Sly flirted with Golden Globe immortality for the Rocky franchise. Stallone was last nominated for a Golden Globe in 1977 for the original Rocky film. In response to the good news, his longtime friend Arnold Schwarzenegger left him a charming congratulations on Twitter.
