First off, let’s make one thing clear. This isn’t an article giving Dwayne Johnson credit for inspiring the US Women’s National Team’s World Cup win over Japan last weekend. That wouldn’t be fair to the women The Rock dubbed “23 of the biggest badasses walking God’s green earth.” Instead, let’s just note a video of Dwayne Johnson giving props to a group of athlete’s who have inspired both him and an entire country.
Our opening comments aside, we’re not saying that rousing speech had zero effect. In case you missed it, the game was a rout. Midfielder Carli Lloyd scored the fastest goal in Women’s World Cup history (one of three) en route to a 5-2 win over Japan. Of course, Johnson followed up with the leading ladies after the game.
“They’re warriors, rock stars and they’re the greatest in the world at what they do,” Johnson says. “Remember how much they’ve inspired an entire country.”
