<a class="replaced_athlete_name" href="https://muscleandfitness-develop.go-vip.net/flexonline/athletes/troy-alves">Troy Alves</a> has always been athletic. In high school he played basket ball and found his love of weightlifting in his sophomore year. Troy went on to Arizona community college on a full scholarship for baseball but injured himself weight training. With his scholarship on the line, Troy left college and joined the US Airforce. Troy continued to weight train and entered his first NPC bodybuilding show in 1996 where he placed 8th. Troy continued competing and earned his IFBB Pro Card when he won the Heavyweight division at the 2002 USA Championships. Troy went on to compete in almost 30 IFBB competitions, leading up to the 2013 Mr. Olympia, which will be his 7th time on the Olympia stage in his professional career. Alves qualified for the 2013 Olympia when he switched bodybuilding classes from Men's Open to the 212 class at the 2013 Europa Show of Champions, where he placed 1st.

Troy has appeared on the cover of FLEX Magazine and in many fitness articles and is currently sponsored by Ultimate Sport Nutrition.
